An integrated space- and water-heating system is an ideal heating system if your home is well-insulated, air-sealed and does not have an especially high space-heating load. With a single appliance both space- and water-heating your home—work usually performed by two separate appliances—systems such as this can have an efficiency rating of over 90 percent for both applications.

Boiler facts

Natural Gas Heated Boiler

A boiler heats water to supply your home with hot running water and heated air. Its energy efficiency is indicated by an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) rating, which measures what percentage of energy the boiler effectively converts to heat. Hot-water boilers are generally more energy-efficient than steam boilers, which tend to operate at higher temperatures.
